The postie has found us

4th October 2024

That first night, our first night, what an adventure …. here we were in our new home, swimming in the pool after dark, our suitcases unopened in the hall, bats swooping down over the water, frogs going ballistic, fireflies twinkling away in the bamboo … it really was magic. We managed to find some sheets that fit the bed in the master bedroom, she said she had left linen but who can tell …. They smelt clean!!! We found our pillows and unpancaked them …. That was also magic … our own pillows … from home …. And actually slept well. We were exhausted emotionally and physically.

The next morning rising with dawn, we started with the kitchen. To help with your timeline I’m talking about 2nd October our first full day. It has taken two days to clean the kitchen and empty all the cupboards, clean all the glasses and paraphernalia to be able to create a working shopping list.

Today we set off up the drive with said list. Who should be driving down the drive towards us but the postie on his motorbike. “We have mail” !!!

Overwhelmed we were … Our dearest friend GC and introducer of the pancake bags has sent us a card… it is now in pride of place on our clean kitchen counter.

We have great success flexing our flexible friend and replacing this ….

There is no doubt we will sleep well again tonight.
