The countdown begins

15th September 2024

It’s now less than 2 weeks before we fly. In just over two weeks the property will be ours all bar the signing, the final payment and the line marking (more of that in a later blog) Holy yikes!! I’m still a little in denial and get rushes of excitement when I think about it. I keep telling myself to slow down and stop planning everything in my head, to the nth degree again and again.

I’m also packing in my head. Daft – I should just get on with it. Not to state the obvious but this is a little more involved that swimming costume, sunscreen and a few clothes. Where to start? What is really important? The thing is that the property is being sold fully furnished so we don’t want to take a whole load of guff but then again, what would we not want to be without ….

  1. First thing that pops into my head “A good pillow”. An old whiplash never fails to raise its head with an unsupportive pillow – that ages me!! A pillow yes a pillow that’s on the list. Actually I imagine there is not a lot of room in your suitcase after you stuff in a pillow. Well thanks to GC I’m introduced to vacuum bags – game changer. Amazon makes another delivery and I have a jolly time getting excited about sucking the bejesus out of my pillow – job done. HE WANTS ONE TOO .. excellent. I’m loving this game, what else can I reduce to a pancake.
  2. Kitchen knives – there is nothing more irritating than dull blades and dangerous chopping. Yes I’ll take some knives and a sharpener.
  3. TBH I probably don’t need anything else! Wait… we have about 6 cafetieres, we will take one of those. Sorted … we can buzz round all day chopping things then sleep well at night.

So what about you lot – anything that you think I need? what are your essential items? it’s bit like Desert Island Discs.

Very exciting. Opening a new world of enjoyment. If you need a carpenter, I’ll bring my tools.

We are predicting probably very little hammock time in the first couple of years!
