I’ve been toiling away at clearing a potentially beautiful patio outside the kitchen/dining room. It’s been neglected like most things and various grasses flora and fungi have made it home. It’s difficult to understand why because it’s not particularly shaded. The floor is an extension of the house and likely made of coral stone. Over the years vegetation has rotted into the cracks and crevices and it is now overgrown and covered in moss, grasses, small bushes 🤣 and all things difficult to pull up. Since we got here we have been eating on our laps, if we did have a decent table and chairs to sit at it would be a lovely area to eat outside. However in this condition it would be not be pleasant, with lizards, ants and mosquitoes running riot and grasses brushing against your legs pretending to be lizards, ants and mosquitoes.

So I’ve been scraping … I’m using one of the many catering fish slices or possibly cake slices found in the storeroom. They are not made for purpose but by Jove it works. At least 4 stones a day is the target. Get to it before breakfast before it gets too hot. It’s backbreaking work but I’m determined.
Then Brian suggests chlorine powder … buy it at Six Roads he says … short cuts are us, I send Richard shopping … anyway it sounds completely lethal … like gloves and mask, breathing apparatus etc. Lordy. What else will it kill?
The next short cut suggestion comes from our new handyman … a lovely bloke from Dalston London. Power wash it …… he says he can borrow one .. high five Hawaii 5/0 … book him in Danno…
At least I can save my back and be proud of what I did scrape by hand. BTW check out the amazing coral doorstop we found outside.
