Welcome Winnie the Pool

Gosh I hope you don’t feel too abandoned it’s been a week since I once again left you in suspense mid pool report. The VIP’s have been here for a week now and we have loved having them. They have thrown themselves into the project and it’s been amazing having their company, advice, humour and plenty of elbow grease. We feel blessed to have such generous friends.

So back to Winnie the pool. She has been named. So when I last left you it was December in the pool refurb time line and the old diamond brite was being chipped off.

We then had Winnie’s inauguration ceremony and the hoses went in. ETTF (estimated time to fill 😂) was two days!!!! So of course our minds turned immediately to the water meter … yikes but it will be what it will be. Mr Bebb did the long walk to check the prefill meter reading … no stone unturned with Barbados water authority we were forearmed.

The deadline of 6th January to tie in with the VIPs arrival was already breached and we were feeling the pressure but 2 days did not seem too awful. Let me tell you as with a pot a watched pool seems to take ages to fill. All eight of us were pacing up and down to the pool through out the day and estimating the ETTF …. “Well I think it will be Wednesday 🤣🤣” it provided quite a distraction.

So de dum de dum … the pool is full… what happens next? There is bound to be a protocol … yes indeed the large dose of chlorine goes in and pool pump needs to run for 24hrs then we can swim … ETTS?????

AND THEN .. we get a call …. there is a leak in the pool room. FFS and other expletives. All electrical equipment off and get the man in. He needs a part, Pressure pressure, no one is answering the phone, how long is it before the water in the pool goes green? The pool man’s phone goes down he’s not answering the engineer turns up without our knowing we are out and the gate is locked … you just could not make it up.

So here we are a week after the original ETTS, it’s 19.25 the engineer has just left. The pool expert is coming tomorrow we might be back on track ….. fingers crossed … and everything else. Winnie please behave.
