Wedding bells

Dah dah de dah, dah dah de dah, or something along those lines, accompanied by banging organ notes or more likely steel pan, and down she floats, a figure hugging white dress, orange flip flops and a huge foliage bouquet with bird of paradise blooms. Near the Mill waits the groom. Down on the lawn a Mike’s fresh Bajan rum punch snow cone man (There is only one man for the job). The DJ is practising his spins and the food is already smelling yummy. Are you all with me? Can you feel the atmosphere? The monkeys are looking on, not that pleased but curious ……who are all these people tiefing our play area. They know all about tiefing.

Today we met with 2 wedding planners to get their thoughts on feasibility, logistics, pricing and obviously to ask them to think about us with any pending nuptials. They were both so generous with their time and ideas. Certainly our vision is not to get involved with any brides, zillas or otherwise and to literally rent our space. Whilst levelling parts of our gently sloping top lawn to increase our capacity from 2/300 guests to 600 might be something to do in the future … maybe not yet… let’s keep it achievable. As for the bespoke all singing all dancing kitchen down by the sea container … yes great idea … what about a tin shed and corrugated roof with a microwave …. Joking aside. We already know we need to start small and build up a reputation. The raw materials we have are an amazing setting, the shade from the mature trees, the gardens with a view down to the sea and the more manicured garden at the top for welcome drinks and lots of wonderful settings for photos……oh and let’s not forget the mill.

Initial wedding research off to a fine start. We have another thing niggling. We need wheels. We are currently in a rental car, very reasonable this time of year but we need our own wheels … our mind turns to that … watch this space.
