17th October 2024
According to the Met Office and other reputable sources, the dry season in Barbados is from January to June, and the wet season from July to December. Brian, of course, knows better. He says the dry season is from April to June, and the wet season from July to November 30th PRECISELY – impressive. When I asked him about December to March, he replied “Sometimes more rain than sun, sometimes more sun than rain”. See? If you want reliable local information, ask a local.
I’ve read that October is the wettest month of all, and Facebook is awash with imminent visitors to the island fretting about the dire forecast for next week. They’re right to be upset. Check out this afternoon’s late swim at the Crane beach 15 minutes’ drive from Pollards Mill. Awful:

And what’s more, it’s like this every day. Ugh! Seriously, we have had a few very heavy downpours but they’re over in no time.
This morning we had some exciting visitors – we’ll save that for another post. After they’d gone Nicola said that she wanted the rest of the day off. Honestly, these millennials…I reminded her that neither of us had been employed by Pollards Inc long enough to have earned a day off and that we were both still in our probationary period so should be doing all we could to impress. Well, our enlightened new employer (ourselves) showed great flexibility in agreeing that we should go for a ‘sea bath’ later on, so we did. Invest in your people and they’ll repay your trust!
