19th December 2025

It’s been a long time coming and no, we have not been keeping our progress hidden. Finally we are on the homestretch to finish the ensuite. We are at the final wash up stage. The new cupboard doors and the refurbished drawers have highlighted the off white paint work and so a touch up has been on the pending list. We understandably just did not have time to do it with all the wedding shenanigans back in October. So today it got to the top of our to do list.

To enable you to complete the ambience…..Spotify has delivered our annual report so my musical accompaniment started with my most played song of 2025 “Both sides now” by the brilliant Joni Mitchell. On the floor I had the usual company.

Painting done, and moving on to the final touches ….making an appearance after a very long time, and now in a starring role is my fish collection. Once filling the wall in the bathroom in my pre-marriage abode, these fish have been wrapped up safely waiting for their moment to shine again. It has arrived. Having spent a couple of decades in the attic and then crossing an ocean on a ship, it was amazing to see them looking in fine fettle and wonderful to unwrap them, each a memory of a holiday, one of my own creations, the fishy section of a quirky little shop, or a gift from a friend.

Ta Dah. I’ve made a start reassembling the wall aquarium.

That was today’s job of work. Paint brushes washed up we downed tools and pootled down to Oistins for a sunset swim, with a turtle at our feet. We must be becoming locals because to be honest it felt a little chilly!!! Nevertheless it was gorgeous, and topped off by some fresh fish at the Fish fry, washed down with a couple of ice cold banks, and no washing up. Perfect.
