Time is really ticking on. We have now been the proud owners of a Barbados plantation house for 4 weeks. We have some VIP guests coming to stay in our one bedroom cottage in the new year. We spent some time last week doing an inventory of both cottages but today was nominated as Plantation View day (not the last!).

We started the day with breakfast on the porch. It was always going to be hard graft so best fuel up. We headed over there with all the supplies and stuff that we had purchased to kit it out.
We knew from our inventory that a couple of blinds were having an internal fight with themselves and rather than buying all new ones we really hoped to be blind doctors. It was the blind leading the blind. With a fair amount of huffing and puffing we released them from the firm grip of the brackets and unravelled the blasted things … untangled them from their wrestling match with the rollers but could we roll them up again level…. Could we heck. Some blue language ensued … we walked away and swore at the monkeys who were definitely chuckling from the bush opposite. Our marriage survived and eventually they were replaced all clean and bright.
Richard made great progress removing light fittings and clearing out the debris from the volcanic eruption on St Vincent April 2021 and previous eruptions of all manner of dusty events for the last millennium no doubt. He checked or replaced all the bulbs so they match, bar the ones we don’t have in stock. Add that to the list.
Meanwhile I was clearing out kitchen drawers and shelves cleaning them down and lining the bejesus out of anything vaguely off white 🤣. Then to the fridge armed with vinegar and bicarbonate……. errrr where’s the fridge ….. duh ….no fridge. So these VIPs will have a new fridge …. Good job as all the other fridges on the property have drawers missing or broken shelves. Add that to the list.
We need a couple more lampshades and to hang the mosquito net and a little more cleaning closer to the time but we are really proud of today’s achievement. Richard has had 4 plunges in the pool today as a reward. Obviously we are hoping our efforts will be rewarded by the VIPs having a wonderful view of the plantation and a fantastic holiday.
