Now we are six

20th January 2025

Ahhhhh that 2weeks has gone by like a flash and the first of the VIPs have left.. they have been amazing company and we have been so grateful for their multifaceted and extremely generous contribution to the project!!!!

We all piled out of the pool to see them off in a guard of honour.. bon voyage. We are down to six.

With decks truly cleared now the skip has been filled and collected, we have turned our minds to the bar. Once a magnificent beast it has been battered by the sun and needs some TLC. We have a target. We are having a party on 22nd February. My dear father died on 18th December and we plan to celebrate his life with a memorial party at Pollards Mill. He would have been so excited to see our new home and be so enthusiastic about the project, getting stuck in with practical solutions and be all over the history. I feel him around us. It’s fitting that we can celebrate his life in the country of our forefathers.

So to the bar. An essential part of any party. It needs stripping down and sanding then oiling. The VIPs have taken off the under bar lighting and cleaned it off, then braved the upside down hammering situation to pin it back up. I have been busy making more drift wood fish for the wall aquarium around the bar. The last piece of the puzzle is an over bar rope chandelier … this idea is still in the brainstorming phase so watch this space.

So for your reference a couple of before photos… we have planned first stage …. the paint stripper to strip off the patchy and uneven layers of peeling in parts varnish … yuck. … this might take some time bear with us.
