Those of you who have asked when we are having a rest will be pleased to hear that we have managed to have the entire weekend off. Woohoo.
We returned to Kensington Oval on Friday for Barbados Royals v Trinbago Knight Riders. (Not another post about cricket, please – Ed. OK, OK…) With the house stuffed full of Trinis it was only right and proper that a steel band provided the sounds in our stand…

…and further entertainment arrived in the form of thunder, lightning and a spectacular sunset…

…before the action eventually got underway and I finally created the perfect combination of Bajan and Welsh culture:

On Saturday morning we heaved our arses out of bed early and made the short journey to Brighton Farmers’ Market. We have befriended some of the stallholders and one of them, Lora from Shalom Condiments, knows that we have a jamun tree which fruits at this time of year. Also known as Java plum or black plum, the tree bears LARGE numbers of small dark fruits. Perfect for a condiment producer. So, last week Lora paid us a visit and proceeded to ‘shake the tree’ good and proper:

And just a few days later at the market I held this in the palm of my hand:

How amazing is that?
PS we’re showing no obvious symptoms of histoplasmosis yet 🤞
