It’s a big day tomorrow. The haulier is bringing our container to Pollards, at a time yet to be determined, he will drive down the cart road, through the gates. (He has already done a test drive so he is confident of getting it in). Then we have an appointment at 1pm with customs. They too will drive down the cart road and through the gates (provided it’s not blocked by the container). At that point they will ceremoniously lift the heavy bolt cutters, cut the seal and clunk open the heavy seaworthy doors. It is at this juncture they will make their decisions….
Wish us luck…
What we found out yesterday was that the shipping company fine you (and it’s a whopping fine) paid up front in the form of a deposit, if the container is not returned to them in a given time. It’s completely out of our control ……when the port releases the container…. when the haulier is able to deliver…. when customs do their inspection…. when the movers will unpack the container ….when the haulier comes to return the container to port. All out of our control, any kink in the efficacy of any service and the deposit starts reducing. Nerve racking….we have had everything crossed that it is a quick and smooth process.
Wish us luck….
