We hotfoot it from the super swanky air conditioned banking suite to the steamy cane fields and our appointment with the surveyor for the fabled line marking. We are overwhelmed by the beauty of the place we are buying. More of that very soon – but here’s a sneak preview of the mill nestling behind the surveyor’s (absolutely essential!) tool…
We pace the boundaries and then grab our machetes and dive into the mature vegetation which has exploded in the tropical climate on the path to the well. This route clearly hasn’t been thrashed in many years.
We encounter the surveyor’s colleague deep in the interior. “Dr Livingstone, I presume?” Turns out he was still finding his way home from Crop Over 2019…anyway, eventually we locate the source of the Zambezi faithfully marked in red by our main man. Hmmm…restoring this well might be a slightly larger undertaking than we anticipated. Eek!
