Beat the bulge.

27th September 2024

This journey usually seems so easy, a 5am start, non-stop to Heathrow, breakfast, board the plane, a couple of movies and 8.5 hrs later we are there. However this time the start is different. We rock up, confident and a bit elated to check in. A little chat and preamble, “where are you off too?” Chat, chat a bit cocky maybe … lorks…. In full view of the queue behind us, one of Mr and Mrs D’s super large suitcases has been over stuffed. We are overweight, the conveyor belt complains and comes to an embarrassing standstill. The people behind us relocate to an adjacent check in desk. OMG mortified. We have to open the suitcase on the floor of the airport and reveal the contents. I unload a couple of my art canvases to hand luggage and sheepishly return to the checkout. Whoops that was definitely my fault.

Time to buy new luggage scales at home.

Two glasses of fizz later and calm has been restored.

The rest of the journey is uneventful. 8.5hrs and two movies later (The Fall Guy had me laughing out loud, along with eye candy to suit all tastes a perfect flight film) ….

“Cabin doors to manual” the heat hits us.. it feels like the Harrogate Turkish baths laconicum.
