Happy anniversary to us. Whoo hoo it’s the weekend and we reward ourselves with a guilt free day off from our labours. We have booked lunch up on the west coast but decide to go on a small detour to investigate the famous Andy Tempro house auctions. Enticingly advertised as Mahogany furniture and household items. Two weeks ago he was auctioning ambulances so we gave that one a miss. Of course we need lots of furniture and household items so it seems like a good idea.
We get there 10 minutes before the start thinking there will be loads of time to peruse the items before the sale starts. OMG there are over 400 lots. A little daunted to begin with it very quickly becomes apparent which lots we may be interested in. A beautiful mahogany and cane chaise longue and a couple of side tables take our fancy. Lots 256 and 276.
Well 35mins in and Andy is still entertaining the crowd, packed to the rafters lining the room and out of the door. We listen for the lot number … he is still on number 32 “an insulated pot warmer”, and then a box of first aid plasters and bandages sells for $5, and a baseball bat for $175 (???!!! we obviously missed the provenance on this one).
Over the head of the auctioneer and through the burglar bars we can see the sea is sparkling. Actually, we have an anniversary to celebrate and rum to drink, standing on the hot staircase for who knows how long is very unappealing, so we bail and head to the sea…..
We toast ourselves and what we have achieved in the last 2weeks not with our usual tipple but keeping it local.

Calma beach club comes up trumps, a completely different celebration to our usual autumnal fire and fizz.

The post lunch snorkel rewards us with huge shoals of ‘Dory’ fish, snappers, parrot and trumpet fish and a short experience of being completely surrounded by tiny wrasse ….. amazing. We know who to bring here when they visit us early next year.
