25th September 2024
It’s all getting a bit imminent now. 48hrs to go.
We have had a final stereotypical weekend away with good mates as a mini farewell.
The boys head to Headingley to the cricket. They drink copious amounts of lager, talk bollocks and end up in the pub for a curry.
The girls rented a rural cottage “The Little Barn” in Stearsby. A real gem on AirBnB. Art and culture at the Yorkshire sculpture park, prosecco, afternoon tea in York, Turkish baths in Harrogate all accompanied by more talking bollocks.
A massive consolation prize to the thumping defeat to the Aussies was on that very day Cricket West Indies released their tickets for tour Oct/Nov. and we have bagged a couple of tickets for WI v England ODI – next cricket is going to be at Kensington Oval Bridgetown!! My great uncle Mike played international cricket for WI (actually only one test and very few runs – hence only one test) nevertheless we are extremely proud he is featured as a WI cricketing great in the Barbados Cricket Legends museum. No question who we will both be supporting.
A great weekend was had by all. Much laughter and the revert to stereotype as much as we hate to admit, was perfect. We are very lucky to have such amazing friends.
On the way home in the driving rain, I am informed – “we have a PV appointment” The medical leaning and the female readers will be confused, why “we” and why has he arranged. So cleanse your smutty minds – We have heard from the sustainability people and have an assessment booked in for Photovoltaic panels. Hit the ground running we think; you never know what the lead in time is. Get in early we think; they are likely to be busy. Plan ahead we think; they are going to be very laid back. Anyway how wrong we were it’s all booked in for the day after we move in.
Needless to say it’s already been rescheduled by the time we are halfway home. Now about that rain – it continues to be torrential – bring on the sunshine.
