I’m sure many of you had already guessed ….. yes we took the plunge and decided to refurbish the pool. So we threw ourselves into choices. Taking the top tips for keeping the costs down and the construction timeframe as short as possible. As we are finding more and more, and it’s very refreshing; the less choice you have the easier it is to make decisions.
First choice …keep the shape and size? no brainer … keep costs down…. no change required.
Second choice …. The pool lining. Diamond Brite, fully tiled (£££) or bespoke plastic liner (£££). Cost decided that one. Then around the top ….Mosaics or bigger tiles. Our pool man, Damian the Barcelona supporter, advises … “avoid anything that needs to be imported, go for tiles that are in stock. Also note bigger tiles need to be cut on the curves, so involve more work”. Mosaics it is then.

Our short list above….. there is an icy cold Mike’s famous rum punch by the pool for anyone who guesses which one we went for …. You just have to come to see us to claim it.
Choice three… the coping around the pool. No brainer … we went for a coral stone finish.

27th November the pool is being drained.
The old Diamond Brite is removed and the new Diamond Brite arrives in bulk … Cool Blue. Good name.

5th December……crikey the pool is huge. Mission on.
As the light fades on today, the BBQ is lit, the frogs have started their serenade, the VIPs arrive tomorrow, so I will pause my pool tales for now. Toodle pip. Keep listening for more pool stories.
