A Caribbean Christmas…

4th January 2026

…and Bajan New Year.

Unlike my lovely wife, who lived in the Caribbean till she was 14, 2025 was only my third tropical Christmas – after Sydney 1990 and Barbados 2014. Nonetheless I think I’m acclimatising to this slightly strange double life – for instance, this didn’t seem out of place:

And then there’s the well known festive mince pie and sugar mill scene:

Plus of course the usual December 25th dip in the pool and star of Bethlehem:

Oh all right, it’s the moon. Still lovely though. How lucky we are – if a bit mixed up!

Our festive season has been enhanced by the presence of Nicola’s brother Peter and our good friend Richard, plus the occasional unexpected guest:

Fortunately he was too dead to wreak any havoc during the festivities.

We then had the pleasure of a second successive New Year’s Eve on the beach at the Barbados Yacht Club. Toes in the sea at midnight. Absolutely marvellous.

With very best wishes for a happy and healthy 2026 to all our readers. Hopefully we will see as many of you as possible in the coming year.

Richard and Nicola x
